Dennis Quaid: Reducing Medical Errors

On April 12, Dennis Quaid spoke at an event at the National Press Club in Washington DC about reducing medical errors. Quaid announced that he has produced a documentary airing April 24th on the Discovery Channel called “Chasing Zero” about medical errors in America.

Two years ago, Quaid’s twin daughters  almost died when they were accidentally given an overdose  of medication while at the hospital. This event caused Quaid and his wife to become passionate advocates for eliminating medical errors and improving patient safety. Quaid went on to say that the keys to reducing medical errors will be: standardized practices, technology (including health IT) and leadership among caregivers.
